Copycat Ruth’s Chris Potatoes au Gratin

  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice the potatoes and layer them in a greased baking dish.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add heavy cream, salt, pepper, and cayenne to the saucepan and bring to a simmer.
  5. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle cheddar and Gruyère cheese on top, followed by breadcrumbs.
  7. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For best results, use freshly grated cheese.
