Crème Brûlée French Toast

A rich breakfast that combines the elegance of crème brûlée with the comfort of French toast.

  • 1 loaf brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Slice the brioche bread into thick slices and arrange them in a baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices, ensuring they are well soaked.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Sprinkle granulated sugar on top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar.

Notes

  • For best results, use stale bread.
  • You can add fresh berries as toppings before serving.
