Southern Baked Mac and Cheese

A deliciously creamy Southern baked mac and cheese recipe featuring turkey bacon and chicken ham.

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken ham, diced
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente and drain.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the flour, cooking for 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly until thickened.
  5. Add the cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, stirring until smooth.
  6. Fold in the cooked macaroni, chopped turkey bacon, and diced chicken ham.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, top with breadcrumbs before baking.
  • Feel free to mix different types of cheese.
