Southern Style Green Beans

A deliciously healthy take on the classic Southern green beans using turkey bacon.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy.
  2. Remove bacon and chop into pieces.
  3. In the same skillet, add olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add green beans and cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Add bacon pieces back into the skillet.
  7. Season with salt and pepper, cover, and cook until beans are tender.

Notes

  • For added flavor, mix in some red pepper flakes.
  • Can substitute turkey bacon with regular bacon if preferred.
