Split Pea Soup

A delicious and hearty split pea soup featuring turkey bacon and chicken ham for a delightful flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup split peas
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 ounces turkey bacon, chopped
  • 6 ounces chicken ham, diced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook turkey bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Sauté until softened.
  3. Add the split peas, chicken broth, diced chicken ham, and thyme. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour, or until peas are tender.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with crispy turkey bacon.

Notes

  • For a creamier soup, blend with an immersion blender.
  • Feel free to add additional vegetables like potatoes or spinach.
