Split Pea Soup

A hearty and flavorful split pea soup made with turkey bacon and chicken ham for a delightful twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried split peas
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 turkey bacon strips, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken ham, diced

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the turkey bacon over medium heat until crispy.
  2. Add the onion, carrots, and celery; sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in the garlic and thyme, cooking for another minute.
  4. Add the split peas and chicken broth; bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 1 hour or until peas are tender.
  6. Stir in the chicken ham and season with black pepper before serving.

Notes

  • For creamier soup, blend with an immersion blender.
